BATTLE WITHIN.
I was reading the Bible one evening and I came across this passage in Romans 7:14-20, and it says " we know that the law is spiritual but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what i do, for what I want to do, I do not do, but what i hate i do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I know that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer i myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For i know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For i have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For i do not do the good i want to do, but the evil i do not want to do - this i keep on doing. Now if i do what i do not want to do, it is no longer i who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it".
Now let's forget the grammatical expressions and the religious aspect of it, what interested me, was the fact that as humans, mere mortals of this earth, we are not originally designed to do good. Not because we can't, but it is easier to do the opposite of what is right. Sometimes we find ourselves in conflict concerning right decisions to make. We know that when we are hurt by people, forgiveness and letting go is the ideal religious thing to do but that sometimes is like hardest thing to do.
Giving, self control, sincere love, forgiveness are some of the hard morsels to swallow completely as humans and sometimes we really shouldn't beat ourselves up over them when it doesn't come naturally or when it's a constant battle. The only thing we can do is to continue to make efforts to do the right that we are meant to do and be the humans we meant to be, and that is to make mistakes sometimes.

MR. NOBODY!
For all the people who remember Mr. Nobody.
I know a funny little man,
As quiet as a mouse
Who does the mischief that is done
In everybody's house.
There's no one ever sees his face,
And yet we all agree
That every plate we break was cracked
By Mr Nobody.
Tis he who always tears our books,
Who leaves our doors ajar
He pulls the buttons from our shirts,
And scatters pins afar
That squeaking door will always squeak,
Because of this, you see
We leave the oiling to be done
By Mr Nobody.
He puts damp wood upon the fire,
So kettles cannot boil
His are the feet that bring in mud
And all the carpets soil.
The papers always are mislaid
Who had them last but he?
There's no one tosses them about
But Mr Nobody.

RE-LIVING MACMILLAN.
I loved it everytime my class teacher asked us to bring out our MacMillan English textbook, popularly known as "reader". The passages were always interesting with interesting characters every school year, from Ali and Simbi, Agbo, Mr Salami, Edet and so on. But what made MacMillan interesting and popular, where the characters.
